For those days....that we just sit and ponder....a bit of inspiration....sent your way !!!
My chat with GOD on MSN...
the times...they sure are changing!!!

God: Hello. Did you call me?

searchin4u : Called you? No, who is this ?
God: This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

searchin4u: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.
God: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too

searchin4u
: Don't know. But I can't find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.
God: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

searchin4u: I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.
God: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

searchin4u : Tell me, why has life become complicated now?
God: Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.

searchin4u: Why are we then constantly unhappy?
God: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.

searchin4u
: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?
God: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

searchin4u
: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.
God: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

searchin4u
: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?
God: Diamonds cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life becomes better not bitter.

searchin4u
: You mean to say such experience is useful?
God: Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

searchin4u: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can't we be free from problems?
God: Problems are "Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons to Enhance Mental Strength". Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.

searchin4u
: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we are heading.
God: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

searchin4u
: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?
God: Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock. !

searchin4u
: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?
God: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

searchin4u
: What surprises you about people?
God: When they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they never ask "Why me". Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

searchin4u
: Sometimes I ask, who am I, why am I here. I can't get the answer.
God: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

searchin4u
: How can I get the best out of life?!
God: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

searchin4u: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.
God: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.

searchin4u : Thank you for this wonderful chat. I am so happy to start the day with a new sense of inspiration.
God: Well, Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs.
Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.
Best wishes for a good day.
Warmest Regards ---
GOD

GOD IN THE GUISE OF A FRIEND

GOD IN THE GUISE OF FRIEND VISHWANATH
This episode happened during 1972, when I was fresh in government service. In the morning
of 7th of October 2015, suddenly I remembered about this episode and how my dearest friend
Viswanath, like GOD spent his entire holiday to see my ailment being treated. . The real story
runs thus:
During 1972, I was working as Assistant engineer in KARNATAKA ENGINEERING
RESEARCH STATION (at that time it was called Mysore Engineering research Station).
As I was alone staying away from Bangalore, every week end and holidays I used to come
down to Bangalore and leave for Mysore on Monday early morning. It was my usual
programme till I got married in 1975.
During one such week-end stay in Bangalore, I had severe cough. And severity resulted in
pain while breathing. This pain was very severe when I was to walk briskly or run to catch a
bus. Since the severity of the pain was felt only while fast moving. During normal walking or
slower walking, the pain did not hurt much. As this was the condition, I thought that the pain
would subside with time. And this happened during first week of August 1972. At my work
place, one week passed and the pain persisted.. . So, I did not inform about my ailment to
anyone. . And I spent the week with pain till Friday. And on Friday evening I boarded a bus
to Bangalore.
Next day was Saturday. And my friend knew that I would be available in Bangalore. So he
came to meet me at my place, that is my grandama's house at Sheshadripuram. The time was
10.00AM. As soon as he saw me he felt that I am not all that fine. As I looked a little sick., he
asked what is the problem with me?
I told him “there is some pain near the chest. That is the reason why I look sick. May be in a
couple of days I will be alright”
Then he told not to neglect any small ailments and said, his uncle is a Radiologist at ESI
hospital at Rajajinagar. I will take you him and seek his advice.. The Doctor, who is his Uncle
enquired what news brought him (Viswanath) to him (Doctor). Then My friend told him
about my case. His Uncle immediately checked me, took an x-ray and told him that I should
be immediately admitted to the Hospital and should undergo an operation. The problem with
me was PNEUMO-THORAX, as per his diagnosis. Further he gave a letter addressed to his
Doctor friend, Dr. Madaiah, a thorax Surgeon. And this Doctor was working in Sanatorium, in
Bangalore.
My Friend without minding his needs and not wasting any time , not allowing me to make
any decision, directly hired a Rickshaw to Sanatorium. Luckily he could meet his uncle's
friend Dr.Madaiah.
He handed over the letter of his uncle. The understood the severity of the ailment, as he
himself a Thoracic Surgeon. Soon, he started searching for a bed in the ward. And he was
able to find one. As soon as the availability of the bed is confirmed, I was taken to the
operation theater and operation was done. May be as I was given anesthesia, I was not aware
of when the operation was conducted on me and when I was brought to the ward.
By about 7.00p.m. In the evening, when the effect of anesthesia receded and I was
conscience, I was surprised to see My brother Raju and Cousin Prabha standing near my bed
with anxious worried eyes. I asked them how they came to know about my operation and
other things?
I was told that my friend went my Grand ma's house from the hospital directly at about 3.30
p.m. and informed my cousin that I have been hospitalized for a minor operation, operation
has been performed and shifted to the ward and he left the hospital after I was shifted to the
ward and then he went home. I stayed in the hospital for about three weeks and came home
fully fit.
Here what I see is that My friend Viswanath 's action on that day. Right from Morning 10.00
am to 4.00 p.m. , in the evening he spent his time exclusively for me. Who would do such a
service other than ever merciful God. On that day God himself came in the guise of
Viswanath to help me to get well. Otherwise I do not know what would have happened.
This evidently indicates that God does not come in the form as we imagined him to be, with
Abhaya hastha and with discus and counch. But he would come to help you in one of the
forms very well known to us. So in this case My Friend Viswanath took the role of God and
helped me.

from darkness to light

lighted lamp in the home

The Hindus with their spiritual belief follow certain

practices, like:

1. lighting of lamp near the idols of the dieties. And Also

during other occassions.
2. keeping the fingers straight and joining both hands

each finger touching the corresponding finger of the

other hand, face to face and saaying, namasthe.
3. bending before parents and elders, and touching

their feet.
etc.,.

What is the significance of such practices?

Through some forwards, I received on my e mail, I learnt

the meaning of such practices, which I following without

thinking about them. Now that I realised the meaning of the

thoughtful practices handed over from generation to

generation, I wish to share with my blog readers.

1. Lighting of lamp (part I)
There is a sankrit shloka about the lighted lamp. It goes this

way:

Deepajyothi parabrahma
Deepa sarva thamophahaha
Deepena sadyathe saram
Sandya deepam namostuthe

The deepam is considered to be the supreme lord, who

drives out ignorence which has engulfed us. To him,we

prostrate to deepam to bestow knowledge to achieve to

higher planes of life.

In any hindu family, it is the handed over practice, to light a

lamp or couple of lamps, in front of the diety. And in some

families, a lamp is kept burning ever. These are lamps which

are not kept burning with the help of electricity, but with

oil.
Our seers symbolised the light as knowledge. And that light

will drive away the ignorence. In mundane reality, everyone

knows that light drives away the ignorence.
So, in lighting a lamp, the seers indicated that man in

general will be in the darkness of ignorence. And he should

gain knowledge to drive away the that darkness. Gaining

knowlege helps him to understand the nature around him

and beyond.

The lamp is lighted with the use of oil and wick. Here oil

represents the eartly wants the man possesses. Earthly wants

may be interests in other sex, money, or assests.
The wick sybolises the self or ego. When the ego is burnt

out, the eartly wants are also burn out. And the man gains

knowledge which leads him to higher planes of thinking.

108 beads in japa maala-why?

It is amazing how much Western science has taught us. Today, for example, kids in grammar school learn that the sun is 93 million miles from the earth and that the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. Yoga may teach us about our Higher Self, but it can't supply this kind of information about physics or astronomy. Or can it? Professor Subhash Kak of Louisiana State University recently called my attention to a remarkable statement by Sayana, a fourteenth century Indian scholar. In his commentary on a hymn in the Rig Veda, the oldest and perhaps most mystical text ever composed in India, Sayana has this to say:

"With deep respect, I bow to the sun, who travels 2,202 yojanas in half a nimesha." A yojana is about nine American miles; a nimesha is 16/75 of a second. Mathematically challenged readers, get out your calculators! 2,202 yojanas x 9 miles x 75/8 nimeshas = 185,794 m. p. s Basically, Sayana is saying that sunlight travels at 186,000 miles per second!

How could a Vedic scholar who died in 1387 A. D. have known the correct figure for the speed of light? If this was just a wild guess it's the most amazing coincidence in the history of science!

The yoga tradition is full of such coincidences. Take for instance the mala many yoga students wear around their neck. Since these rosaries are used to keep track of the number of mantras a person is repeating, students often ask why they have 108 beads instead of 100.

Part of the reason is that the mala represent the elliptical path of the sun and moon across the sky. Yogis divide the ecliptic into 27 equal sections called nakshatras, and each of these into four equal sectors called paadas, or "steps," marking the 108 steps that the sun and moon take through heaven. Each is associated with a particular blessing force, with which you align yourself as you turn the beads. Traditionally, yoga students stop at the 109th "guru bead,” flip the mala around in their hand, and continue reciting their mantra as they move backward through the beads. The guru bead represents the summer and winter solstices, when the sun appears to stop in its course and reverse directions. In the yoga tradition we learn that we’re deeply interconnected with all of nature. Using a mala is a symbolic way of connecting ourselves with the cosmic cycles governing our universe.
